Grit: 6#, 16#, 18/20# diamond grinding plate are usually the first step of metal bond grinding for removal overlay and old rough surface. The coarse diamond particles make you deeply cut and very powerful removal and can significantly open the floor and expose the new substrate of concrete, so you can easily move to the next floor prep and resurfacing. These grits are also very ideal for thinner coating removal, like epoxy, urethane, arcylic etc .

Grit: 30#, 40# are very common used for concrete floor grinding. It produces even and obvious scratches pattern and quickly open the old concrete floor surface. 

Grit: 50#, 60#, 70#, 80#  are further grinding and will produce medium scraches on the concrete floor surface.
